One of the oldest and largest human services organizations for New Americans in the region, IINE serves more than 4,000 people each year in Boston and Lowell, Massachusetts, and Manchester, New Hampshire. Our programs include case management, youth and family services, English for Speakers of Other Languages (ESOL), employment and skills training, and immigration legal services.

Overview
The Career Manager Services oversees employment and Skills Trainings programming with a focus on the promotion of economic advancement for refugees and immigrants by building pathways to client attainment, retention, and advancement in family supporting jobs.


The position is responsible to manage the refugees, immigrants, non-native English speaking clients enrolled in Employment and Skills Training programming in preparing for jobs and achieving employment outcomes. The position is responsible for workplace orientation, preparation and placement, ongoing coaching, development, and maintenance of agency relationships with local-area businesses, managing IINE employment contracts, and short and long-term data tracking. The purpose of IINE’s Employment Service and Skills Training is to both prepare refugees and immigrants for sustainable careers and provide a durable solution for area workforce needs.

  • Pay Range: $66,000-$79,233/year

Responsibilities

  • Support logistics planning and curriculum development for Skills Training program for English language learners.
  • Provide management of the Employment and Skills Training Team.
  • Manage Employment and Skills training outcomes, enrollments, and reporting.
  • Support teaching and management of workforce orientation classes for IINE clients.
  • Provide support for recruitment, assessment, teaching, and placement services to clients in training programs.
  • Work with clients to develop individual employment plans. Must be able to determine the interests, abilities, and case management needs of clients and coordinate closely on service planning with all program staff.
  • Responsible for job counseling, job coaching, and group job search workshops.
  • Assess applicants’ eligibility for training programs by supporting the administration of written and oral English tests.
  • Teach training program classes, prepare classroom materials, and evaluate student progress as needed.
  • Provide individualized job retention/advancement counseling for clients upon their completion of training program courses as needed.
  • Provide post-placement support services to ensure job retention and record any changes in employment status as needed.
  • Act as a point of contact for the program’s primary employer partners and manage the day-to-day working relationship.
  • Research market and job trends; keep current on relevant information that prepares participants for the world of work.
  • Support new International Institute clients to identify appropriate skills training opportunities and secure jobs related to their training.
  • Responsible for all program contract reporting.
  • Represent the organization at meetings, conferences and events as assigned.
  • Contribute to program data collection following contractual guidelines.
  • Coordinate closely with other Institute programs and services, including support of internal referrals.
  • Provide ongoing support and supervision to workforce development interns and volunteers, as assigned. Perform all other duties assigned by supervisor.

Required Skills/Abilities

  • Strong counseling/advising skills required.
  • Strong computer skills required.
  • A command of Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint required.
  • Excellent organizational, verbal, written, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to prioritize duties in a fast-paced environment.
  • Proficiency in additional languages a plus.
  • Best Plus Certification a plus.
  • Highly self-motivated, able to work in a team and independently.
  • Access to reliable transportation.
  • Ability to work under pressure and remain calm and composed under stressful situations.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with staff, clients, service providers and others.
  • Ability to evaluate/interpret information and make good and independent judgements or decisions.

Education & Experience

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Human Services, Healthcare, Education, or related field; Master’s Degree preferred.
  • Minimum of 1 year of related experience in job development and/or employer engagement
  • Minimum of 1 year managing direct reports required.
  • Minimum of 1 year of adult teaching or tutoring experience, preferably with immigrant populations and adult English language learners preferred.
  • Experience working with immigrant populations preferred.
  • Experience teaching remotely on Zoom or Google Classroom preferred.
  • Previous experience in or exposure to healthcare sector strongly preferred.

Work Environment Conditions

  • Exposure to bright, overhead office lighting, use of office technology such as laptops, printers, mail machines, and other in-office equipment.
  • Occasional travel to client homes and surrounding towns
  • Seldomly night and weekends events and work

Physical Demands

  • Occasional lifting, pushing, and pulling materials (boxes, equipment) of 50 pounds or more.
  • Continuous sitting (or standing) at a desk for long periods of time.
  • Occasional driving to and from IINE offices as needed.
  • Frequent bending, reaching overhead, and reaching at or below shoulder level.

Covid-19 Policy

IINE does not require applicants for most positions to show proof of Covid-19. Some federal contracts, however, require IINE staff to show proof of Covid-19 vaccination, and some immigration status adjustments, such as a Green Card, require proof of Covid-19 vaccination as well. Consequently, for some positions, IINE staff may be required to show proof of vaccination, and in others, IINE staff will be supporting clients who are required by law to have proof of vaccination in order to adjust their status in the United States.
